Croatian architects Nikola Bašić (architecture) and Marko Murtić (interior design) designed it. In 2016 it was among 7 finalists for the prestigious “International Hotel and property award” within category for hotels with maximum 200 rooms.
The key material used in the construction is white cement shaped with a wooden molds technique. Decorative traces on the surface of the cement obtained this way give a new sculptural quality to the material.
The principal element of the interior is an oak wood whose texture, warmth and color make a carefully chosen contrast to concrete walls. Sculptures and other works of art, made by famous Croatian artists, contribute to this sensation of uniqueness.
„The art is an integral part of D-resort“, explains the architect Marko Murtić.
He designed all the interiors together with a colleague Ana Aščić. Furniture, carpets and lighting objects were invented, designed and produced specifically for this complex.
